Russia will be involved in the process of preparing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with the country's Public Television.

According to him, the possible signing of the document does not imply the withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from Karabakh, deployed in the area since the end of the war in fall 2020.

Grgoryan maintained that Russia is interested in peace in the region, the unblocking of communications, delimitation of borders and a long-term solution to the Karabakh conflict.

"Russia will be involved in resolving these issues," Grigoryan said, adding that Yerevan also considers Moscow's participation in "building the architecture of security guarantees."

“And I think that in the long term the issue of the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers should not arise. If we are talking about security guarantees, then there should be an international presence, at least for a certain time."

Asked who manages the process of preparing for the peace agreement, the Security Council Secretary replied: "Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Brussels, Washington."
