Turkey extends condolences over market explosion in Armenia

Turkey’s special representative for the normalization of relations with Armenia Serdar Kilic has expressed condolences over the massive explosion that tore through Yerevan and left at least six people dead.

"I am deeply shocked by the news of a massive explosion at an open-air trading center in downtown Yerevan, Kilic said on Twitter.

"I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured in this tragedy."

At least six people were killed, more than 60 others were injured and an unknown number of people are feared trapped in rubble after a strong explosion tore through the Surmalu market in Yerevan on Sunday, August 14. A five-year-old child and their pregnant mother were among those missing.
