Aliyev hopes for positive response from Armenia to peace proposals

Baku hopes for a positive reaction from Yerevan to Azerbaijan's proposals for a peace agreement between the two countries, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said Wednesday, March 8.

"We hope that Armenia will respond positively to our comments on the proposals for a peace agreement," Aliyev said following talks with Latvian President Egils Levits in Baku.

He noted that "some time ago we submitted our proposals based on the norms and principles of international law."

“We have received comments from Armenia. In response, we have sent them our comments. So the process is underway, and we hope to see the same strong political will from Armenia,” Aliyev said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in mid-February that Armenia has finished working on the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan and forwarded the proposals to Baku. Pashinyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, February 16 that the proposals were also forwarded to the OSCE co-chairing countries.
