Armenia and the United States will cooperate in the the fight against illegal drug trafficking in the region, according to a report from the Armenian police.

The matter was discussed at a meeting between Deputy Chief of Police of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, police colonel Vardan Vardanyan and Alfred Paris, Assistant Special Agent in Charge at Drug Enforcement Administration of the U.S. Department of Justice.

During the meeting, issues related to mutual assistance, cooperation, as well as the signing of a memorandum were discussed. The parties also weighed in on a number of issues related to the fight against illegal drug trafficking in the region.

The American side expressed support for organizing training courses for police officers of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs on the fight against illegal drug trafficking through the Internet.
