Armenia-Azerbaijan: U.S. says working hard to get across the finish line

The United States is working very hard to get across the finish line in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations process, Principal Deputy Spokesman for the U.S. Department of State Vedant Patel told a briefing on Monday, January 22.

When asked about Russia’ claims that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was willing to go to Moscow to discuss Nagorno-Karabakh, Patel confirmed the U.S. has “the same appetite” to Washington talks.

“This is something that the United States and that the Secretary is interested in and that this is something that we’re going to work very hard to get across the finish line in close coordination with Armenia and Azerbaijan and the others who are working on this issue, including Coordinator [Louis] Bono,” Patel said.
