Russia's share in Armenia's military and technical cooperation with other countries was 96% several years ago, now this figure has dropped to 10%, Secretary of the country’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with Armenian public television.

As of 2020, Grigoryan said, 96% of Yerevan’s total military-technical cooperation was with Moscow, while since January 2021, Armenia has signed contracts worth several billion dollars with a number of other countries.

Which means military-technical cooperation with Russia has decreased from 96% to less than 10%,” said the Secretary of the Security Council (quoted from RIA Novosti).

Grigoryan noted that Armenia was forced to diversify this area, since “it was Russia’s choice.”

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in February that the country could not continue military cooperation with Russia in the current format. According to him, previously 95-97% of relations in the defense sector were with the Russian Federation, which “cannot continue for both objective and subjective reasons.”
