Russia to begin assessing migrant workers' speaking skills

The Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) is planning to change the Russian language exam for migrant workers and include an assessment of speaking skills.

The minimum exam score may also be increasing from 50 to 80 points out of 100, which would allow applicants to obtain a residence permit or citizenship, RBC reports.

The assessment of speaking skills had been removed from the migrant labor test in 2021.
