Freedom House is concerned by mounting reports of police violence in Armenia.

“We urge Armenian authorities to investigate this pattern of excessive force and inhumane treatment and work with civil society to foster and implement meaningful reform,” the organization said in a statement on X.

Human Right Watch said earlier that lack of effective accountability for law enforcement abuses is an ongoing problem in Armenia. It said Authorities often pursue investigations into ill-treatment allegations under “abuse of office” offenses, which carry lighter penalties.
