The U18 chess team of Armenia won the title of vice-champion of the European Team Championship.
Armenia was represented by Emin Ohanyan, Arsen Davtyan, Robert Philiposyan, Erik Gasparyan and Benik Agasarov, Armenpress reports.
In the last round, the chess players defeated the Austrian team with a score of 3-1. Overall, at the U-18 European Championship, Armenian chess players secured 5 victories, 1 draw, and 1 defeat.
In the first round, the Armenian team defeated the team from the Israeli city of Ramat Gan with a score of 3.5-0.5. In the second round, they drew 2-2 with Slovenia, and in the third round, they beat the Turkish team with a score of 3-1. In the fourth round, the U-18 team defeated the main team of Israel with a score of 2.5-1.5. In the fifth round, they lost to Poland with a score of 1-3, and in the penultimate, sixth round, they gained an advantage over Germany with a score of 2.5-1.5.
The winner of the championship was the Israeli team, which suffered its only defeat in the championship against the Armenian representatives.
