A number of top officials from Armenia’s judicial and law enforcement bodies resigned on Monday, November 18.

First, President of the Supreme Judicial Council Karen Andreasyan resigned on Monday.

“I am quitting both the presidency and membership at the Supreme Judicial Council," he said in a statement. “I have laid dozens of institutional foundations and, if nothing is spoiled, everyone applying to courts will see the results in a few years.

Andreasyan also expressed his gratitude to the legislative and executive branches, the Prime Minister, as well as the former and present members of the Supreme Judicial Council.

President of the Anti-Corruption Committee Sasun Khachatryan too tendered his resignation, the committee’s press service told Armenpress.

Investigative Committee Chairman Argishti Kyaramyan and Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan were the next to resign.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a statement issued on Monday, said he asked several high-ranking officials to resign. During last week’s Cabinet meeting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan strongly criticized Armenia’s judicial and law-enforcement bodies for failing to end a perceived lack of justice in the country.
