Arman Tsarukyan, a renowned MMA fighter, will not face Islam Makhachev for the UFC lightweight title on January 19 in Los Angeles. UFC President Dana White confirmed the news, citing a back injury Tsarukyan sustained during weight cuts, reported Sputnik Armenia.
This rematch between Tsarukyan and Makhachev was set to headline the evening. Makhachev weighed in at 70.08 kg, while Tsarukyan missed the weigh-in due to the injury. Their first bout took place in April 2019 in St. Petersburg, won by Makhachev.
Tsarukyan, 28, boasts an impressive record of 22 wins in 25 professional fights.
