Azerbaijan’s warlike statements remain a worry, army chief says

The situation along the line of contact remains relatively stable, but Azerbaijan’s warlike statements continue to draw attention. On January 28, during a visit to the Yerablur Military Pantheon, Chief of the Armenian General Staff Edward Asryan expressed his concerns over recent remarks by Azerbaijan’s defense minister.

“The warlike statements by Azerbaijan’s defense minister always concern us, but they play a minor role in operational evaluations. We closely monitor the situation at the border as well as these statements,” Asryan said, referring to comments by Zakir Hasanov, as reported by Armenpress.

Asryan also addressed the concerns of Armenian citizens, acknowledging their legitimacy. He noted that Azerbaijani troops remain stationed within Armenia’s sovereign territory.

“We are fulfilling our mission, pursuing peace through border delimitation and demarcation efforts. Meanwhile, our armed forces continue to grow, improve, and modernize,” the military chief emphasized.

January 28 marks the 33rd anniversary of the formation of Armenia’s Armed Forces.
