Students submit petition to president on national priorities

The Office of the President of Armenia has received a petition addressed to President Vahagn Khachaturyan regarding the clarification of national interests. According to the presidential administration, the petition has been registered, and the president will respond, Pastinfo reports.

On February 13, a group of students presented a collective petition to the president, calling for clear definitions of Armenia’s national and state interests.

"Recent contradictory statements by certain high-ranking officials regarding the Armenian Genocide as a historically indisputable fact have caused significant confusion in society. Defining national values and interests should be a priority for the president.

With our petition, we demand:

-A detailed list of the national and state interests that guide the president in fulfilling his duties.

-Clarification on whether the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide is considered a national and state interest of Armenia.

We expect the petition to be reviewed in accordance with legal procedures and published on the appropriate platform. We firmly believe that our voices must be heard," the petition states.

Previously, Doctor of Law and Professor Arthur Ghambaryan had made a similar demand.
