Armenia explores fish export opportunities to EU

Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia, Armen Danielyan, met with representatives of fish export companies to discuss maintaining the steady growth of fish exports to Russia and the potential of exporting Armenian fish products to EU countries.

The discussion covered sanitary and hygiene conditions in fish farms, animal health, veterinary drugs and their residual levels, feed quality, and the supervision of these processes.

Danielyan emphasized that while the administrative process for exports would be streamlined, border control measures would remain strict. He also stressed the need for transparency in fish farming, consistent product quality, and effective risk management.

"You must work in close coordination. Any producer’s failure will negatively impact all others. The certification we issue must not be questioned," he warned.

Fish exporters reaffirmed their commitment to meeting Russian regulations, increasing export volumes, and aligning their operations with EU standards to potentially access the European market.
