Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan, addressing the issue of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan, stated that these individuals have been illegally deprived of their freedom, and their rights must be a priority. She made this statement while speaking to journalists at the Government building.
"Of course, there are many concerns, ranging from possible cases of torture to other forms of mistreatment," Manasyan said, as reported by 1lurer.am .
According to her, the trials conducted by Azerbaijan against Armenians cannot be considered independent or impartial.
"In this regard, I also welcome the statement by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the matter, particularly regarding the release of all individuals arbitrarily deprived of their freedom in Azerbaijan, including ethnic Armenians," she emphasized.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council, called for the immediate release of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan.
