A bust of Misak Manushian, a renowned fighter of the French Resistance during World War II and a national hero of France, will be installed in the Misak Manushian Park in Yerevan. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan on Facebook.
"Misak Manushian's name is forever inscribed in Armenian and world history as a symbol of the struggle for freedom, justice, and human rights. To honor his memory, a bust will be placed in the park named after him in Yerevan," Avinyan stated.
According to the mayor, an open competition for the bust's creation was held, with ten sculptors participating. The winning design was submitted by Sargis Babayan, whose work was recognized as best reflecting Manushian’s character and ideals.
"With this initiative, we once again emphasize our respect for Manushian’s legacy and the values he stood for," Avinyan added.
By the decision of French President Emmanuel Macron, Misak Manushian was reburied in the Panthéon.
