Pashinyan offers Aliyev consultations on signing peace deal

The draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been finalized and is now awaiting final signature. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated this in a post on his Facebook page.

He stated that he is offering the President of Azerbaijan to initiate consultations on the signing of the finalized agreement.

"The draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been finalized and is awaiting signature. I propose to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to begin consultations on the signing of the finalized document," reads Pashinyan's statement.

Earlier, in another post, Pashinyan reiterated that Armenia is on the path to peace, not war.

"The draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been finalized and is awaiting signature. My instruction to the Ministry of Defense is clear: do not violate the ceasefire. Armenia is moving toward peace, not war," he stated.

Previously, Pashinyan had also announced his readiness to sign the already finalized peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

On March 13, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry announced that it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two previously unresolved articles and that the peace agreement was ready for signing. Armenia is prepared to start consultations on the timeframe and location for the signing. However, Baku has set new preconditions, stating that it is too early to discuss meeting dates.

The peace agreement consists of 17 articles, with 15 previously agreed upon. The unresolved points included renouncing mutual claims at the international level and refraining from deploying representatives of third countries along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
