Armenia, Kazakhstan approve migration cooperation deal

The Armenian government has approved a migration cooperation agreement between Armenia and Kazakhstan. The document outlines several key areas of collaboration: exchange of statistical, legal, and methodological data; mutual information sharing about citizens; experience exchange; and practical assistance in addressing emerging issues. It also covers the protection of residence rights for migrants and their families, along with joint analysis of residence status matters.

According to Armenpress, both sides agreed to develop efficient and fast procedures for handling migration issues based on reciprocity, aiming to ensure legal clarity and a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation.

All provisions are to be implemented in line with the national laws and international commitments of both countries.

It was noted that the ratification aligns with the Armenian government's 2021–2026 program, particularly in strengthening cooperation within the CIS and deepening relations with its member states.

The agreement was signed in Yerevan on April 15, 2024, and is now headed to the National Assembly for ratification.
