Government silent on demarcation delays, ceasefire violations, and undisclosed peace terms, says MP Abrahamyan.
MP Tigran Abrahamyan has stated that the Armenian authorities have failed to clarify three major issues concerning national security and peace. He made the remarks in a post on his Facebook page.
"First, why is there a delay in implementing the border delimitation agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, despite a joint statement made 3–4 months ago?
Second, why has Azerbaijan been systematically violating the ceasefire for a month, while the authorities attempt to downplay this fact?
Third, why is there a delay in the promised peace, even with a coordinated document, and why has it not been published? What is the government hiding from the public?
The issue isn't just the threats and challenges related to these three agenda items. The real problem is that the government has taken the most damaging approach. And even in that case, Azerbaijan expects something else, while the Armenian authorities pretend to be deaf and mute," the MP wrote.
On March 13, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two previously unresolved articles and that the peace agreement was ready for signing. Armenia expressed readiness to start consultations on the time and location for signing the agreement. Baku, however, introduced new preconditions and claimed it was too early to set a date for the meeting.
