Anti-Corruption Committee head says monitors March 1 case closely

Artur Nahapetyan, Chairman of Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee, stated that the investigation into the March 1 case is under his direct supervision. He made this announcement during a session at the National Assembly.

"Currently, a joint investigative team has been formed with the Investigative Committee, and active evidentiary and procedural actions are being carried out in this case," he said, as reported by Aysor.am .

Nahapetyan assured that the investigation will be comprehensive and impartial.

"However, I do not intend to make promises or assurances regarding any proceedings from this podium. If we achieve relevant results, the public and you will be informed," he responded to a question from Taguhi Tovmasyan, a deputy from the I Have Honor faction.

Following the 2018 events, Robert Kocharyan and others were charged with overthrowing the constitutional order in connection with the March 1 incidents. Their lawyers consistently argued that the charge was unconstitutional. The Constitutional Court reached the same conclusion, after which Judge Anna Danibekyan acquitted the defendants. The Court of Cassation overturned the acquittal decision, sending the case to the Anti-Corruption Court for a new trial.
