UNICEF is preparing to cease its operations in Azerbaijan in the coming months, marking the end of a 30-year collaboration. Irina Mazur, head of the UNICEF Regional Communications Office for Europe and Central Asia, confirmed the closure, according to 1news.az.
Mazur noted that the office shutdown will be carried out gradually.
"UNICEF will continue to work with Azerbaijani partners through its regional office and central headquarters," Mazur emphasized.
She also mentioned that UNICEF has cooperated with the Azerbaijani government since 1993.
