Armenia to boost women's role in peacekeeping missions

Armenia will expand the participation of women in peacekeeping missions, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan announced during his address at the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial meeting.

In his speech, Papikyan emphasized Armenia’s commitment to international peace efforts and outlined new national pledges. These include deploying well-prepared personnel to UN missions, organizing international peacekeeping training programs in Armenia, and supporting measures to increase the involvement of female peacekeepers in UN operations, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The first member of Armenia’s peacekeeping mission joined the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon back in 2012.
