As part of his official visit to Kazakhstan, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan visited the ALZHIR memorial complex dedicated to victims of political repression and totalitarianism. He paid tribute to women who were exiled to the camp during the repressions of the 1930s–1950s.
According to museum records, among the imprisoned were approximately 80 Armenian women. Simonyan laid flowers at the monument dedicated to their memory.
He also wrote in the museum's guestbook for honorary visitors.
