Two Yerevan Municipality officials have been arrested on bribery charges following early morning searches conducted by Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee on May 20. The operation, part of an ongoing criminal investigation, was confirmed by the committee and reported by Pastinfo.
The Anti-Corruption Committee stated that the searches and other investigative actions at the Municipality are part of a broader criminal case under its jurisdiction. “Two officials have been arrested on charges of accepting bribes. No further details can be disclosed at this stage due to the interests of the preliminary investigation,” the committee said.
The actions are connected to the Department of Public Order Protection. Its head, Aram Gyulzadyan, was previously arrested on bribery charges in February and remains in custody. It is not yet clear whether the current case is linked to the one involving Gyulzadyan.
