The Yerevan City Council has approved a resolution exempting residents from penalties for failing to pay sanitation fees on time from January to May 2025. Payments made by July 31 will not incur late charges.
David Hakobyan, acting head of the Revenue Registration and Collection Department at the Municipality, introduced the proposal at the Council’s May 20 session. He explained that the amendment concerns payments outlined under the Law on Sanitary Waste Collection, as reported by 1lurer.am .
Hakobyan noted that payments can now be reviewed and made through several platforms, including Erevan.am, pay.e-community.am , Haypost, Easy Pay, and branches of Armeconombank.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan addressed city residents, saying: “With this decision, we affirm that no fines accumulated up to this point are valid. All will be offset against your actual sanitation fee.”
Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan added that additional commercial bank apps will be integrated into the payment system within the next 1–2 weeks, further easing the process.
“We expect that within a month all previously available options will be restored, and residents will no longer face difficulties,” said the deputy mayor.
He emphasized that the temporary removal of penalties is due to the earlier absence of online payment systems. “We will enforce penalties only from the moment we provide the online option,” he stated.
The Council unanimously approved the proposal.
