Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, affirmed that preserving territorial integrity and stable regional borders remains a cornerstone of Iran’s foreign policy. He made the statement in Yerevan during a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, as reported by Armenpress citing IRNA.
Nasirzadeh emphasized that the shared Iran-Armenia border is a historic link between the two peoples and declared, “Tehran will not allow any violation of this border.”
He stressed the strategic significance of bilateral ties, noting Armenia’s special role in Iran’s neighborhood policy.
According to Nasirzadeh, Tehran-Yerevan relations are based on strong historical and cultural foundations. He added that lasting peace in the Caucasus would create broad opportunities for regional development.
Brigadier General Nasirzadeh also planted a fir tree in the administrative compound of Armenia’s Ministry of Defense as a symbolic gesture.
