Armenian composer presents music, culture at Cannes

Composer Shushan Sargsyan took part in the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, presenting both her musical artistry and the subtle beauty and uniqueness of Armenian culture.

A film featuring her original score was also screened at the festival, Armenpress reports.

Sargsyan participated in professional discussions held as part of the festival’s Marche du Film segment, where she introduced her compositions to representatives from prominent film companies, including directors and producers. These meetings laid the groundwork for promising future collaborations that may enhance the visibility of Armenian culture on global platforms.

She also took part in events organized under the Armenian House initiative, led by director Artyom Baghdasaryan.

Walking the red carpet in a custom-made gown titled “Komitasian Violets,” Sargsyan wore a creation designed by Lusiné Movsisyan of “Lusnē Art,” inspired by motifs from Komitas’s water jars. The dress embodied depth and elegance of Armenian culture. Designers Nina Sarkisyants and stylist Armine Gevorgyan also contributed to the pattern and final styling.
