Two officials from the Yerevan Municipality who were detained on May 20 have now been formally remanded in custody. They are accused of accepting bribes, according to Marina Ohanyan, spokesperson for the Anti-Corruption Committee, as reported by Factor.am .
On the morning of May 20, the Anti-Corruption Committee conducted evidentiary and other investigative actions as part of the ongoing criminal case.
According to media reports, the operations took place within the Public Order Protection Service. Earlier, in early February, the head of the same department, Aram Gyulzadyan, was also arrested. In addition to him, several other individuals were detained, including Robert Darbinyan, a lawyer who in 2018 headed the Department of Urban Development and Land Control of the Yerevan Municipality, and his then-deputy, Aram Ayvazyan, along with other current and former officials.
According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, there are more than 10 defendants in this case. However, the investigating authority has not disclosed any names.
