Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced during a press briefing that Russia will allocate another batch of humanitarian aid to individuals displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. The aid will be provided by the Russian Humanitarian Mission.
"The issue of humanitarian aid remains a focus for the Russian side," she affirmed, according to Sputnik Armenia.
Zakharova noted that in Armenia, the matter is handled by the republican branch of the Eurasia independent non-profit organization.
She recalled that in October 2023, the Russian Humanitarian Mission had already delivered six tons of food and personal hygiene products to displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive on Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, 2023, subjecting the region to heavy shelling. On September 20, the local authorities accepted a ceasefire proposal from the Russian peacekeeping command, agreeing to Baku’s terms: disarmament and the dissolution of the Republic of Artsakh. Forced displacement began on September 24, with over 100,000 people fleeing to Armenia. According to some reports, only around 20 Armenians remain in the region. On September 28, President Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree dissolving the Republic of Artsakh, effective January 1, 2024.
