Border delimitation reduces Armenia's vulnerability: Deputy PM

Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated during a conversation with journalists in Aparan that Armenia is strengthening its sovereignty through the ongoing border delimitation process with Azerbaijan.

"By delimiting the border, we are reinforcing our sovereignty and reducing our vulnerability. The delimitation process will continue from the corner of the Georgian border to the corner of the Iranian border. I hope it will be carried out in accordance with established regulations. I don't believe it will create any risks," said the Deputy Prime Minister, according to Armenpress.

Grigoryan also noted that the signing of a peace treaty and the border delimitation process are concurrent but not interdependent processes.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, it has not yet been decided when the next meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani commissions on border delimitation and border security will take place.

On January 16, the Armenian and Azerbaijani state commissions on border delimitation reached an agreement on a new section of the border. According to this agreement, the border demarcation will start from the northern part, at the junction of the borders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, and continue southward to the point where the Armenian and Azerbaijani borders meet the Islamic Republic of Iran.
