Juventus launches football academy in Yerevan

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Juventus Football Academy took place near the Hrazdan Stadium in Yerevan, Armenia.

The event was attended by David Trezeguet—world and European champion with the French national team and Juventus legend—alongside Armenian Football Federation President Armen Melikbekyan, head of Juventus Academy Armenia Albert Abrahamyan, and Italy’s Ambassador to Armenia Alessandro Ferranti, reports Armenpress.

"A sports complex will be built here, which will include one of Juventus’s academy training bases in Armenia, as well as a UEFA category two multifunctional stadium," said Albert Abrahamyan.

Armen Melikbekyan noted that the Armenian Football Federation has supported the project over the past year.

"We have several excellent projects underway, and this is one of them. I sincerely hope that we’ll soon see outstanding infrastructure here," Melikbekyan emphasized.

Ambassador Alessandro Ferranti underlined the importance of such initiatives, viewing them as a sign of friendship between the peoples of Italy and Armenia.

"This academy is a part of Italy stepping onto Armenian soil. It will be part of all our shared heritage, because football belongs to all of us," the ambassador said.

Former French striker and Juventus forward David Trezeguet also emphasized the significance of the project.

"Juventus is pleased to be welcomed here and to have the chance to raise a new generation of footballers. I hope the construction wraps up soon so we can begin work here," Trezeguet said.
