On May 29, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Joshua Huck in Yerevan.
The two officials discussed key regional security issues. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that there is a genuine opportunity to achieve peace in the South Caucasus. He noted that the signing of a peace treaty and the establishment of interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan would mark a historic milestone.
The meeting also addressed ongoing efforts toward advancing the peace agenda. Both sides exchanged views on the measures needed to implement this vision.
Discussions extended to the strategic partnership agenda between Armenia and the United States. The sides reviewed avenues for deepening cooperation in several mutually significant areas as outlined in their partnership charter, aiming for tangible outcomes and enhancing Armenia’s resilience. Upcoming projects were also part of the agenda.
Mirzoyan and Huck expressed satisfaction with the active exchange of visits, including participation of U.S. officials and experts in the second Yerevan Dialogue”В international forum.
In a related development, U.S. President Donald Trump, in a message to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Independence Day, reaffirmed U.S. support for lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “The United States continues to support lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Peaceful resolution of the conflict will enhance prosperity in the South Caucasus and open new opportunities for cooperation with the U.S. It is time to commit to peace and usher in a new era of prosperity for the people of the South Caucasus,” the message read.
