Erdogan says Azerbaijan now a regional peace architect

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking to journalists on his return from Azerbaijan, welcomed the ongoing steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighting the importance of establishing stability in the South Caucasus.

He expressed hope for the swift completion of the peace process, APA reports.

"We warmly welcome the steps being taken between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We consider reaching an agreement on the peace treaty text an important move toward stability. We wish to see this process finalized as soon as possible. We observe that victorious Azerbaijan has now become the architect of peace in the region," Erdoğan said.

Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of an international airport in Lachin, a region brought under Azerbaijani control after the 44-day war. Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also visited Lachin and was seen off from the newly inaugurated airport.
