The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is advancing its tourism cooperation by developing tools to finance joint industrial projects and enhance the tourism sector, focusing on collaboration among member states.
Plans are underway to establish an information resource detailing tourist sites and routes across EAEU countries. Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister of Economy and Financial Policy at the Eurasian Economic Commission, announced this initiative, as reported by Armenpress.
Sultanov noted that the procedure for selecting and implementing joint industrial projects, along with funding provisions by member states, has been approved by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
"The Commission is actively involving businesses in the formation and improvement of EAEU legislation. This April marked the 10th anniversary of implementing the Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) process for EEC decisions. RIA has proven effective, with over 60% of business proposals incorporated into Commission decisions over the past decade," Sultanov stated, adding that two additional tools were introduced in 2024.
According to him, the first change extends the RIA process to draft international agreements within the EAEU framework. The second introduces a mechanism for evaluating the actual impact of Commission decisions.
"We anticipate that this process will help more effectively identify potential improvements in regulatory quality, based on feedback from businesses, which serve as a primary source of information on the practical application of EAEU law. A prime example of sectoral cooperation with businesses is the development of tourism collaboration among EAEU member states. Based on proposals from the tourism industry, joint Eurasian tourism route maps have been created, encompassing information on over 400 Eurasian tourist sites and 38 routes. This initiative will aid in developing tourism infrastructure and increasing tourist flows among EAEU countries. Relevant information has also been published on the Commission's website for use by tourism associations and to foster connections in the tourism sector," he added.
Sultanov further mentioned that in 2026, the Commission plans to launch an information resource compiling data on joint tourism routes and sites across EAEU countries.
