A group of citizens staged a protest outside the Armenian government building in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Demonstrators chanted slogans such as "Nikol the Antichrist."
One protester carried a figure labeled "ambassador from hell," bearing a sign reading "Nikol is awaited in hell." Police prevented this figure from approaching the government building's entrance.
Protester Eleonora Manandyan stated they brought the "ambassador of death from hell" to convey that "Nikol's time to depart to hell has come." She added, "Nikol, his partner, and his entire team are already awaited in hell."
Manandyan listed what she described as Prime Minister Pashinyan's "sins," including "blasphemy, antichristianity, plunder, betrayal, malice, distortion, defeat, and perversion."
She called for public mobilization, stating, "What is happening against the church is utterly unacceptable; Nikol has crossed the final red line. Because of Nikol, Armenia is plunging into an abyss."
Manandyan urged the opposition to resign from parliament if they cannot lead the struggle, emphasizing the urgency of action before potential losses, such as Syunik Province.
Protesters also displayed posters featuring images of saints from the Armenian Church. Another participant claimed these saints came to curse Pashinyan for "betraying the Armenian nation, leading it to destruction, dishonoring Armenian sanctities, and launching a vile campaign against the church."
Prime Minister Pashinyan recently faced criticism from clergy after comparing churches to storage rooms during a government session. In response, he made derogatory remarks about church leaders on social media, questioning the celibacy of Catholicos Karekin II and suggesting state involvement in electing the head of the Armenian Church.
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin condemned these actions, stating they serve the interests of external anti-Armenian forces and align with Azerbaijani propaganda targeting the Armenian people and church.
