Armenia will purchase a new building in Brussels for its diplomatic mission at a cost equivalent to 4.3 million euros. This was announced by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan while presenting the annual report on the execution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 2024 state budget.
He also mentioned that in 2023, a building was acquired in London as well, reports Armenpress.
“This building is located in a prestigious district of Brussels, near embassies, representations, and European institutions. Beyond its functional and logistical advantages, its acquisition also carries political and symbolic significance—particularly in light of the expanding Armenia-European Union cooperation and the importance of ensuring greater visibility and representation in Brussels,” the minister explained.
The building has an area of about 1,500 square meters. “Given the ongoing rise in real estate prices, this purchase could also be a profitable long-term investment,” Mirzoyan added.
According to him, of the 64 diplomatic missions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, 20 are housed in buildings owned by Armenia. Of these, six were donated by benefactors, two were provided on a reciprocal basis, one was allocated by the host country, and 11 were purchased with funds from the Armenian state budget.
In addition, 13 buildings are provided for use free of charge by various organizations, while the remaining 31 are rented.
