Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko has arrived in Armenia on an official visit, as confirmed by the press service of the Russian upper house of parliament.
Matviyenko is scheduled to meet with Armenian leadership, including a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, according to Sputnik Armenia.
As per the press service, Valentina Matviyenko and Alen Simonyan will jointly open the 39th session of the Interparliamentary Commission for Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of Russia and the National Assembly of Armenia. The main topic will be “The 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory: Unity of Future Generations in Preserving Historical Memory.” On the same day, Matviyenko will also attend the 10th Russian-Armenian Interregional Conference.
The delegation includes Federation Council Deputy Chairman Yuri Vorobyov, Defense Committee Chairman Vladimir Bulavin, First Deputy Chair of the International Affairs Committee Vladimir Dzhabarov, Deputy Chair of the Social Policy Committee Yulia Lazutkina, Deputy Chair of the Regional Policy Committee Alexander Uss, International Affairs Committee member Alexander Karelin, and Social Policy Committee member Andrei Chernyshev.
