Chair of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko, on an official visit to Yerevan, stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan maintain constructive and pragmatic relations without any issues, according to RIA Novosti.
“Mr. Nikol Vovayevich conveyed greetings to our President and emphasized that, regardless of certain insinuations, his relationship with Vladimir Vladimirovich has always been and remains constructive and businesslike. There are no problems between them,” Matviyenko told reporters.
She also noted Armenia’s interest in active cooperation with Russia, including the security sector.
Matviyenko is in Armenia on an official visit, as previously announced by the press service of Russia’s upper house of parliament.
“Just like us, Armenia has shown interest in expanding and developing our multifaceted bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of security and other areas,” she added during the media briefing.
The meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Federation Council Chair Valentina Matviyenko in Yerevan lasted significantly longer than scheduled. According to the Federation Council’s press office, talks began in a one-on-one format before continuing in an expanded session.
