Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that Russia expects both Azerbaijan and Armenia to understand Moscow’s concerns over NATO’s growing activity in the South Caucasus and to recognize the potential risks associated with deepening cooperation with what the Russian Foreign Ministry labels as an "aggressive military bloc."

She added that NATO brings nothing beneficial to the security of the South Caucasus, according to TASS.

“On the contrary, as we clearly understand, the main goal of Western countries is to destabilize the region, sow discord, and create new centers of tension.

We hope that both in Baku and Yerevan, they will equally understand our legitimate concern and fully appreciate the risks of expanding cooperation with aggressive military blocs,” Zakharova emphasized.

At the same time, it appears that Moscow overlooks the fact that Baku’s closest military partner is Turkey, a NATO member.
