National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan has condemned the recent attack against Iran and called for a peaceful resolution of the situation. He expressed this position in a statement posted on X.
“We are deeply concerned by the latest developments involving a unilateral strike against Iran in the early hours. This action occurred between phases of nuclear negotiations and undermines both global and regional peace efforts.
Armenia condemns this attack and calls for an immediate de-escalation and a peaceful resolution in accordance with the principles of international law,” Simonyan wrote.
In the early hours of June 13, Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on at least six military bases near Tehran. According to Iranian state media, strikes also hit residential areas in Tehran and several other cities. It was also reported that the central building of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Tehran sustained damage. The Iranian Armed Forces’ General Staff announced that Iran would respond to the Israeli assault decisively and forcefully.
Three senior members of Iran’s armed forces were killed, including Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Central Command Chief Gholam Ali Rashid, and IRGC Supreme Commander Hossein Salami.
