The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin says it will respond with legal mechanisms if any actions are taken against the Catholicos.

His Grace Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chief of Staff of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, responded to questions about the Church’s potential actions should there be an attack on the Catholicos. He emphasized that there are established legal mechanisms that will be inevitably activated.

"I hope such reckless actions are not undertaken, as they carry the risk of physical confrontation," he said, according to Aysor.am .

"I regret that we might be drawn into such fruitless actions, but there are tools in place that will be applied immediately," he added.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook that “decisive action must be taken to liberate the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and organize new Catholicosal elections.” He stated that a coordinating group will be formed to manage the organizational aspects of this agenda, and that he himself will take responsibility for selecting its first ten members.
