The Government of India has expressed its gratitude to the governments of Armenia and Iran for facilitating the smooth evacuation of Indian citizens from Iran. This was stated in a June 18 press release by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, reported by Armenpress.
“The Government of India is grateful to the governments of Iran and Armenia for ensuring a smooth evacuation process,” the statement reads.
India evacuated 110 Indian students from Iran. The group traveled by road through Armenia to Yerevan and then flew to New Delhi on a special flight.
Earlier, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan stated that Armenia had provided the necessary support to ensure the safe evacuation of the Indian students. The matter was discussed in bilateral communications between Armenia’s Foreign Minister and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
