Over 600 Chinese nationals have crossed into Armenia from Iran amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, the Chinese embassy in Yerevan reported, according to Armenpress.
“By the evening of June 18, more than 600 Chinese citizens had entered Armenia from Iran through the Agarak border checkpoint,” the embassy said in response to a question about how many Chinese nationals had been evacuated via Armenia.
On June 17, the Chinese embassy in Tehran issued an advisory urging its citizens to leave Iran due to potential land border closures. The announcement identified Armenia, Turkey, and Turkmenistan as potential exit routes.
India also evacuated a group of its citizens from Iran through Armenian territory. Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan confirmed that 110 Indian nationals were evacuated via Armenia.
Additionally, the Russian Embassy in Iran listed Armenia as a possible route for its citizens to leave Iran.
