MP warns Pashinyan may share Saakashvili fate

MP Aghvan Vardanyan contends that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent actions closely resemble those of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili—and that their outcome could also mirror Saakashvili’s fate.

Vardanyan criticized developments surrounding philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, highlighting a familiar pattern.

He recalled how Saakashvili “met his downfall by provoking the Georgian Orthodox Church, triggering a fierce, unified public backlash. The parallels and developments are striking. I believe the outcome will be similar.”

Regarding Karapetyan, Vardanyan remarked: “There is a wise saying—great men do good, not harm. Goodness is brought by greatness; destruction by insignificance.”

He emphasized Karapetyan’s widely known work in Armenia and Artsakh: “His deeds and life are before everyone’s eyes—from huge investments to hands‑on support for ordinary people, testifying to his greatness. You decide who is insignificant and who are those insignificant ones.”

Vardanyan expressed confidence in Karapetyan as a resilient, strong‑willed individual, warning that these actions will have serious consequences for authorities.

He concluded: “The authority’s lawlessness will not go unpunished. Samvel Karapetyan is a strong‑willed person, and this injustice will not be tolerated by the authorities.”
