Armenia sees Erdoğan–Pashinyan talks as positive

Armenia views Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul as positive, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan stated.

“In a constructive atmosphere, both sides exchanged their positions on bilateral and regional developments. The Armenian side welcomes the meeting,” Kostanyan told reporters, according to Radar.am .

When asked how President Erdoğan responded to the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, Kostanyan confirmed that the reopening of regional communications was also discussed. “Naturally, the topic of opening regional transport routes was addressed, and both parties acknowledged its significance,” he said.

Pashinyan made a one-day working visit to Turkey on June 20. The visit’s agenda was not disclosed in advance, based on a mutual agreement between the sides, as previously noted by the prime minister. While in Istanbul, he also met with members of the local Armenian community.

In response to a question about whether Turkey’s goal is to pursue the “Great Turan” vision, Pashinyan remarked that there would be no “Zangezur Corridor,” but rather a “Crossroads of Peace.”

“Both we and Turkey want roads. Let’s open the borders. If we call everything ‘Turan’ and panic, nothing gets solved. Let’s live and let others live too,” he said.
