Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, urging both sides not to violate the truce. The ceasefire reportedly followed a wave of Iranian missile strikes on Israeli territory.

Iran’s state-run Press TV reported that the ceasefire with Israel is already in effect. According to Israel Defense Forces (IDF), six missiles were launched by Iran toward Israel, while Iranian sources said the strikes came in four separate waves.

Israeli broadcaster Kan reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed his cabinet during a night session that an agreement on a ceasefire with Tehran had been reached.

Trump stated that Iran and Tel Aviv had agreed to cease hostilities, marking what he called the official end of a “12-day war.” He noted that Iran would halt fire first, followed by Israel 12 hours later.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, said there was no formal ceasefire agreement yet. He added that Tehran would stop retaliatory strikes if Israel ceased its “aggression” by 4:00 a.m. local time.

Later, Trump posted: “The ceasefire is in effect. Do not break it.”

The New York Times reported that an Israeli military official declined to comment on Trump’s ceasefire statement.

Meanwhile, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar lifted flight restrictions, according to their aviation authorities.

Iran also targeted the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Qatar’s defense ministry confirmed that its air defense systems successfully intercepted the incoming missiles aimed at the base.

Despite Trump’s announcement, military actions continued throughout the night until the ceasefire took hold, Deutsche Welle reported.

Israel’s national emergency service, Magen David Adom, said seven people were killed and more than ten injured in Be’er Sheva following Iranian missile strikes on June 24.

Air raid sirens were activated across Israel during the night. Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported additional missile attacks targeting Israel. According to Germany’s DPA agency, citing the IDF, Israeli air forces retaliated by destroying missile launch sites in western Iran.

Trump had earlier said, “Israel and Iran have fully agreed to a complete and final ceasefire (in about 6 hours, once current actions are completed).”

Before this, Iran had attacked the U.S. Al-Udeid base in Qatar. Trump described the attack as a “weak response” to the U.S. destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities.

Israel had initiated its offensive on June 13, targeting Iranian nuclear centers, military bases, and personnel, citing Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. Iran denied these accusations and launched hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles in response.

On June 22, U.S. forces joined the conflict, striking three Iranian nuclear facilities. B-2 bombers dropped twelve 13.6-ton bombs on Fordow, and two more on Natanz. Submarines launched 30 Tomahawk missiles at targets in Natanz and Isfahan. Trump claimed the destruction of Iran’s key uranium enrichment sites, though Iran said those facilities had already been evacuated.
