MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the "I Have Honor" faction wrote on Facebook that amid increasing attacks on institutions representing Armenia’s statehood and collective interests, people are once again asking: "What should be done?"
He finds it unacceptable that in order to oppose former President Serzh Sargsyan and avoid admitting past mistakes, some are trying to block paths to change.
"In the political field, there are largely two prevailing approaches:
First, to mobilize all forces and prepare in the best way for the 2026 elections.
Second, to generate a process through a no-confidence motion in parliament, weaken the government, and aim for a political resolution.
The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) chose the second path, initiated a no-confidence process, and nominated council member Davit Hambardzumyan as its candidate.
It seemed the process should unite people around this initiative, but some circles, in an attempt to justify their failed tactics and the view that elections alone bring political change, are targeting both the no-confidence motion and RPA leader Serzh Sargsyan.
Those who declare or believe that the country’s salvation lies in removing the current leadership as soon as possible should not waste time. They must realize that the current rulers, acting illegally, will do everything—even civil war—to stay in power.
It is unacceptable to block the path to change solely to oppose Serzh Sargsyan and deny past mistakes.
Everything must be done—using all available resources—for rapid change in the country. Existing resources should not serve as justification but be directed toward effective action," his post reads.
