Garnik Danielyan, an MP from the “Hayastan” faction, spoke outside the residence of archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan—where a search is underway—characterizing the actions as “another phase of repression,” with scope this time much wider.
He stated that all security agencies are involved: police, National Security Service (NSS), and the Investigative Committee .
“It seems the mood is to take people to the NSS, then fabricate specific cases. It’s like 1937—someone in a hysterical fit said: ‘Go find something in every house.’ It’s clear what they’re doing… A person yesterday published a scrap of paper, and now they’re calling it absurd things,” Danielyan said .
On the morning of June25, law enforcement began searches at homes of “Holy Struggle” movement supporters. The Investigative Committee alleges that the movement’s members planned “terrorist acts and seizure of power in the Republic of Armenia.” On June24, Prime Minister NikolPashinyan shared a civic.am article titled “Opposition coup plan,” calling it “the failed coup of the thugs.”
