Davit Hambardzumyan, mayor of Masis and the “I Have Honor” faction’s nominee for prime minister, has expressed support for all recently arrested individuals.
He also urged opposition groups and figures to set aside internal disputes and create a unified resistance.
“The current ruler is attempting to establish an open dictatorship in our country. I stand with all those who have been detained,” Hambardzumyan declared.
“I call on all opposition forces and individuals to immediately unite, even if temporarily, setting aside internal disagreements and forming a single front of resistance. Only then will victory be possible,” he added.
On June 25, Armenian law enforcement began searches at homes of members of the “Holy Struggle” movement. According to the Investigative Committee, the movement’s participants and leaders were allegedly planning terrorist acts and a seizure of power.
On June 24, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan shared a civic.am article titled “The Opposition’s Coup Plan” on Facebook, commenting: “This process will go down in history as the failed coup of traitors.”
