The “Holy Struggle” movement stated that the “coup plan” document released today by Armenia’s Investigative Committee is dated from a year ago and has never been implemented.
According to a post on the group’s Telegram channel, the document’s visible date proves that it was written long ago and was not carried out. The movement accuses the authorities of manipulating the content for political persecution.
It further claims that pro-government media outlets deliberately concealed the document’s date in images published a day earlier. However, the version released by the Investigative Committee clearly shows the date, indicating its age.
The statement accuses Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of using an old, unactioned plan prepared by unknown individuals as a pretext for repression. “The fact that the date was deliberately hidden by the propaganda machine confirms the authorities knew the document was fabricated,” it concludes.
On June 24, Pashinyan shared a civic.am article titled “The Opposition’s Coup Plan,” calling the affair “the failed coup of traitors.”
On June 25, law enforcement conducted searches at the homes of supporters of the “Holy Struggle” movement. The Investigative Committee claims its leaders planned terrorist attacks and a seizure of power.
